San Filippo del Mela, November 11, 2024<\/em><\/p>\n

Presented today at the council chamber of the City of San Filippo del Mela \u201cCiauru,\u201d the food and wine experiential tourism event scheduled for Nov. 15 and 16.<\/span><\/p>\n

Present at the press conference were Mayor <\/span>Gianni Pino<\/strong>, vice mayor <\/span>Valentino Colosi,<\/strong> Pasquale Curr\u00f2,<\/strong> member of the particular secretariat of the regional councilor for tourism, sports and entertainment <\/span>Elvira Amata<\/strong>, the honorary consul of Bulgaria for Eastern Sicily. <\/span>Giovanni De Luca.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Realized thanks to a grant from the Sicilian Region’s Department of Tourism, Sports and Entertainment, Ciauru aims to implement tourism in the regional territory, especially in the so-called \u201clow season\u201d periods, through the enhancement of the agricultural, landscape, cultural, artistic, and food and wine resources of the context in which it operates: Valle del Mela.<\/span><\/p>\n

“<\/span>Rediscover our agricultural origins, traditions, and the exceptional products that the territory offers<\/em>\u2019. This, according to Mayor<\/span> Gianni Pino<\/strong>, is the main road to take.<\/span> “We have the privilege of living in the gulf between Cape Tindari and Cape Milazzo, a place of great beauty, with an exceptional microclimate and a strategic geographical position. Elements that make it unique in the Sicilian landscape. For a long time <\/em> – still declares the first Filipino citizen- <\/span>we have been working to enhance these aspects, which represent the real strength of the Mela Valley, as history teaches us.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

During the conference, the project’s promotional video, made by<\/span> AM Filmaker,<\/strong> a production company born from the intuition of two young local talents, was screened.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also Filippese<\/span> is Tommaso Russo<\/strong>, who oversaw the creation of the website www.visitsfm.it, an important showcase where all information about the event is published.<\/span><\/p>\n

“<\/span>The innovative idea<\/em>,\u2019 says<\/span> Valentino Colosi,<\/strong> deputy mayor of San Filippo del Mela and creator of the project, \u2018is to create a new and innovative project –<\/span> consists in reversing the usual logic of trade fair events. So many producers from our region mobilise every year to participate in the most important international trade fairs, where they can meet buyers and stakeholders and promote their company <\/em>.  <\/span>Thanks to Ciauru, on 15 and 16 November we will be able to implement the reverse route, following the logic of \u2018open doors\u2019. In fact, potential buyers will be offered the opportunity to visit the companies where they are located, and at the same time to learn more about the territorial context in which they operate, through excursions, guided tours, tastings, conferences and shows’. <\/em><\/p>\n

Various production sectors will be involved in the event, including floriculture, wine, oil and dairy companies, producers of honey and citrus essences, and catering activities, who will also be offered the opportunity to get to know new markets, such as those in Eastern Europe (which are growing rapidly) and international markets in general. <\/span><\/p>\n

“<\/span>The agricultural sector, with a focus on agri-food excellence<\/em>, says<\/span> Giovanni De Luca,<\/strong> honorary consul of Bulgaria for eastern Sicily<\/span>, “represents<\/em> <\/span> a potential element of economic growth for Sicily. However, there are undeniable infrastructural and logistical obstacles that need to be overcome in order to give it momentum. During the conference that will take place on Friday morning we will address this topic, offering those present food for thought not only on the existing problems, but above all on the possible scenarios, in view of a commercial collaboration between Italy and Bulgaria <\/em>\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ciauru is a project idea of the Municipality of San Filippo del Mela, realised with funding from the Sicilian Region’s Department of Tourism, Sport and Entertainment.<\/span><\/p>\n

“<\/span>Sicily<\/em> – declares<\/span> Elvira Amata<\/strong>, regional councillor for  tourism, sport and entertainment –<\/span> offers its visitors unique and enveloping experiences, and \u2018Ciauru\u2019 represents the perfect synthesis of an authentic model of experiential tourism, a segment that finds strategic relevance within the Department’s programming. A project that has received the support of the Assessorato, capable of enhancing not only our territories through flavours, colours, scents and sounds, but also of narrating our traditions by telling them, day after day and throughout the months of the year, with the shared objective of offering the many visitors great emotions. To the organisers – <\/em>concludes<\/span> Amata<\/strong>– I would like to applaud the particular connotation of the initiative, which is fully in line with the vision of my department’.<\/em><\/p>\n

The event will be attended by national, regional, provincial and territorial institutional authorities, ambassadors, consuls, and secretaries of Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad. Among the participating subjects are also the Gal Tirreno Eolie, the AMP Capo Milazzo, the ITET Leonardo Da Vinci, tourist address, the IS Renato Guttuso, food and wine, tourist reception and art addresses, the Professional Institute for Agriculture and the Environment – Milazzo, associated branch of the I.I.S. Ferrari, the Impallomeni High School, linguistic section, the San Filippo del Mela Comprehensive Institute, the Milazzoflora floricultural consortium, the Mamertino DOC consortium, agricultural, agri-food and industrial companies, trade and cultural associations, export managers, tour operators, artists. <\/span><\/p>\n

Scheduled events include a performance by the dancers Joey & Rina and Tony Esposito’s concert \u2018Da Pino Daniele a Carimba de luna\u2019, featuring Bonumusai, special guest Orazio Maugeri, on Friday and Saturday evenings respectively in Piazza Fulci.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the two days of events, it will be possible to visit the following exhibitions in the council chamber of the municipality of San Filippo del Mela: \u2018Il Maestro del Colore\u2019, by Lorenzo Chinnici, curated by the Timeless Art gallery and Jewels in Taormina; \u2018A terra e i notri iurnati\u2019, by the Filipino Photographic Historical Archive of Salvatore Cambria; \u2018L’Attrezzi\u2019, by the UPCF.<\/span><\/p>\n

The inaugural evening will be opened by the parade of the \u2018Amatori della musica\u2019 Upcf band, the \u2018Blue stars\u2019 majorettes, and ten dance schools from all over the district. Also dedicated to the origins of Mamertino will be an original theatrical performance by the Le Nuove Immagini Association in collaboration with \u2018Il Mamertino ritrova Giulio Cesare\u2019 and the Proloco San Filippo del Mela. <\/span><\/p>\n

There will be moments dedicated to the tasting of typical local products. <\/span><\/p>\n
